Winter Chub 23/10/13 |
Sparked by my latest blank I dug out my 1954 edition of "Chub
– How to catch them" by Michael Shephard.
Following a good read I returned to the river for a quick session last monday afternoon. Thankfully this session was
more successful than the last with a two decent chub being taken in the early
afternoon on a lobworm weighing 3 & 4lb respectively (the bigger fish
pictured below).
Interestingly whilst reading I stumbled across a recipe for
cooking chub.
“Place the body of the chub on a board, attempt to fillet it
after cleaning and garnish it with every spice available and with every herb
you can lay your hands on; sprinkle it with orange juice, lemon juice or beer
if you have a feeling for it. At last with no further culinary ideas for improvement
of the meat, throw the lot away and cook the board”.
I’ll leave you to make your own mind up about giving it a
try.
