Dave (my dad) with the first fish of the season. A stunning 5lb chub taken on a single Dendrobaena.
What a cracking start to the season. The opening day was fantastic, 7 fish caught between the 3 of us. That's not bad at all on such a little river where the quietest sneeze ruins a swim.
Conditions weren't perfect. The river was crystal clear, making it hard to stalk the chub. However we still managed a decent catch.
Me with my first catch of the season, a 3lb chub taken on a free lined lobworm.
Chris with his manky barbel taken on a lobworm.
Luckily for me this river runs at the bottom of my road, and this particular stretch is only a 10 minute walk from my house. Unfortunately for the Mrs I took advantage of this and went down every day after work, sacking everything from the gym to house work off... I have not been very popular. However it has all paid off. I have been fishing my favourite tactics all week catching my favourite species.
A selection of my catches:
Chub taken on lobworm.
Chub taken on lobworm.. again.
lobworm..
Chub taken on bread.
The same manky barbel Chris caught, taken on bread.
I'm off to Devon for the week, anything I catch there will be put on here when I get back. Bu ru!
I had to add this one in at the end.. I didn't know my camera was going to take 4 photographs!
